Bucketfeet is startup Shoe Company that provides a unique platform for artists to share their stories. Each shoe is the result of a carefully crafted vision and a handmade design. The mission is to find a different artist to design every shoe produced.

 

As the Production Artist, all shoes went through me, my responsibilities were...

• Preflight all files and clean up any necessary issues

• Convert all raster images into vector art 

• Assign all art the appropiate pantones colors for production

• Create virtual 3D and flat mock ups to get an idea of style for selection

• Ensure all final files met manufactuers requirements

• Worked closely with the creative director to ensure quality control

 

​Below are the pre production files followed by pictures of the actual shoe.  The process is as follows...

• First, It starts with the artist's work.  In some cases the artis supplies a JPG which I later converted into a vector format.  

• Second, a virtual 3D mock up is made.  This mock up gives the art director a general sense of what the shoe is going to look like, a key element in the selection process.  Also used in this process is a flat mock, this is how the art is layed out when the shoe is decostruted, a key element used as a guide by the manufacturer.  

• Third is the selection process. Once the virtual mock ups are viewed and the favorites are chosen by the BucketFeet team, a tangable sample is produced.  

• Lastly, after seeing, touching and photgraphing the sample shoe, the final selections are made.
